The large Sherpa communities on the eastern bank of the Bhote Koshi
river, such as Beding, Simigaon and Tashinam as well as numerous
smaller communities had no access to any medical services.
With the help of Austrian donations,
Eco Himal was able to restore an existing building and establish
a health post there. Three rooms
were adapted and furnished, a drinking
water supply installed and toilets
built. One room was equipped as a pharmacy.

Subsequently, local people were trained to provide qualified medical
emergency assistance. The services will include vaccination
programs, hygiene trainings for women's groups, mother and child
care as well as family planning
for both men and women.
The Simigaon health post provides basic medical services both for
the villagers in this formerly neglected area and for the tourists
who pass through the Rolwaling valley.
